Vincent is one of our brilliant Ndebele translators and wants to be a pilot. We spoke to him about how he got into translation and asked him for his favourite Ndebele phrase.
1. Which languages do you translate and what industries do you specialise in?
“IsiNdebele – Education, Law, Social, Technology, Science and Politics.”
2. How long have you been a translator, and how did you get into translation as a career?
“More than 10 years now. I started while I was at the university.”
3. What’s the most challenging translation project you’ve ever worked on?
“Biotechnology and chemistry.”
4. What was your favourite food when you were a child?
“Spaghetti and Macaroni.”
5. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
“My 30s.”
6. What is something you learned in the last week?
“To analyse a judgment.”
7. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
“To become a pilot.”
8. When you have 30 minutes free, how do you pass the time?
“Phone and sms time.”
