Chinese is way out in front, with just under 1,2 billion first language speakers in the word across 33 countries.
Spanish comes in next with roughly 414 million speakers across 31 countries, followed by English with 335 million spread across 99 countries, Hindi (260 million in four countries) and Arabic fifth with 237 million speakers across 60 countries worldwide.
